       BACK IN BRAZIL!

                              NEW TOWN

After over 22 years in the City of Cuiaba, we have moved to the small town of Vianopolis in the state of Golas.  We enjoy having everything within walking distance.

                        NEW HOUSE

Our 'new' rented house is beginning to feel like home.

                          NEW CAR

We were able to buy a 'new' Fiat Palio Weekend Adventure 2005.  Thanks to all of you who doneated funds and made this purchase possible.

                        NEW OFFICE

Our mission has moved its headquarters from Cuiaba to Anapolis.  Alec works in Anapolis, so he makes the two-hour-a-day commute from our home in Vianopolis  -  3 or 4 days a week.  Now you know why we need a car!

                       NEW SCHOOL

The reason we chose to live in Vianopolis was so that Andrew (17) and Jessica (16) could attend the New Tribes Mission School here.  Some of their friends from Cuiaba are here, so they are enjoying new and old friendships.

                    NEW POSSIBILITIES

Since our return to Brazil, we have been struck with how the Brazilian Church and Christian Indigenous leaders have caught the vision for Bible translation.

In September of last year, Alec and Eliabe were privileged to attend CONPLEI meetings in Manaus.  CONPLEI stands for National Council of Evangelical Indigenous Pastors and Leaders.

Over 1000 indigenous leaders attended these meetings where they discussed many of their current issues and concerns.  Eliabe shared about his translation work on the Xavante OT.

CONPLEI has named mother tongue translation as one of its top priorities, so one of our goals as a mission is to promote this movement in any way possible.

Eliabe is currently keyboarding and editing the portions of the Xavante OT that he has drafted.  He loves his new laptop, solar panel and battery setup that were all donated by friends from Calvary Church, Lancaster, PA.

Prayer:

  • Continue to pray for Eliabe as he works on OT translation.
  • Pray for wisdom for CONPLEI leadership as they promote Bible Translation in Brazil.
  • Pray for Andrew.  He will graduate in May and has many decisions to make before then.
  • Pray for Alec, as he has been re-elected to  serve another 2-year term as Brazil SIL Director.

Praise:

  • Thank the Lord that we have transitioned well into our new life here.
  • Praise Him for Eliabe's perseverance in the Xavante OT translation task.
  • Thank God for what He is doing among Brazil's tribes.
