Tim & Susy Graham

(Update - Winter 2009):

"For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope." - Romans 15:4 NASV

Dearest Partners, Friends, and Family:

We are already well into the first month of a new year.  A year which stretches and pulls us to cling to our God in ever more tangible ways and I find I need to remind myself to 'think on these things' all the more often (Philippians 4:8).  But, with that said, there is much to be excited and encouraged about!

For the past couple of months Tim has been working on his most challenging project yet, the Ozumacin Chinantec New Testament and Psalms.  Chinantec is a tonal language--like Chinese, but it also has other differences that make that make Ozumacin Chinantec just plain HARD to read.  This has been the most time consuming project on which Tim has ever worked.  Considering how difficult Ozumacin Chinantec is to read, Scripture being available on audio tape or CD is all the more important.

The Linguistics Department is pleased to announce the publication of two new grammars.  They are the Copala Trique and the Choapan Zapotec.  Both language groups live in the state of Oaxaca, however, many Trique are working on farms in Baja, picking vegetables.  Both the Copala Trique and Choapan Zapotec now have New Testaments in their own languages.  In the past few months, I have sold and sent numerous copies of these New Testaments.  It is exciting to see Christians, when discovering that their neighbors speak one of these languages, contact me to purchase Scripture for these people in a language that they can read and truly understand!

Here at home, Grandma is settling in to her new residence right next door to us.  Growning older is not for the faint of heart.  Observing Grandma approach her daily tasks leads us to appreciate her all the more.  At ninety-nine years of age, she never ceases to amaze us!

We thank God for your faithfulness and friendship.  Your supporting us is no small endeavor!  As our country's financial situation worsens it challenges each of us to 'pull in our belts' and become increasingly creative.  Please pray with us that we will be ever wiser stewards of your monthly gifts.

Looking to Him,

Tim & Susy
